Ben 10: Alien Force Pickup Truck
Cartoon Network has been sponsoring a racing pickup truck, and we've asked the driver some questions about what it's like to race cars.
And because the driver, Steve Dance, is a big Ben 10 fan, he has painted his car in the Ben 10: Alien Force colour scheme!
How do you prepare the truck for a race? Do you have a team to help you?
Yes, I have a team consisting of a Spotter (Adam who guides me around the track), a Crew Chief (Robert who is in charge of all the paper work and the 'running' of the team) and then I am also lucky enough to have another 4 team members (Dean, Charlie, Scott & Kev) who all help out prior to each race and also on the day. I could not do it without them! The team usually meet throughout the week and at weekends to prepare the truck including the changing of the oil, checking all the bearings, help with general service of the truck and set up alterations depending on the next circuit we are visiting on the calendar.
The team at Brands Hatch in Kent 2008:
How long have you been a racing driver? How did it all start?
It started when I was 21 years old. I used to be a spectator and enjoyed it so much I went onto buy a 3 litre Capri which I raced on short ovals. I am now 52 years old, so a long time!
Do you have a favourite Ben 10 alien? Why?
Yes, Accelerator because he's fast!!
What do you think makes a great racing driver?
It's more than just speed, it's about being tactful and on the ball, also to spot an opportunity and go for it!
How does Pickup Truck Racing differ from other types of racing?
The friendship between the teams is brilliant, it's a great atmosphere, everyone is on hand to help if needed, all the teams are happy to lend parts if required, it is very competitive and also a very affordable motorsport.
A spin in their last outing at Pembrey in Wales 2010:
